This is why more and more companies are committing to reducing CO2 emissions in their logistics activities and accelerating the transition to a sustainable logistics model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Efficient driving, the use of new fuels, the centralization of logistics platforms, route planning<\/a> are just some of the initiatives that companies are implementing to take a further step in the decarbonization of logistics and thus achieve sustainable logistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following 7 companies have successfully implemented changes and measures to implement sustainable logistics and significantly reduce their carbon footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lidl<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lidl<\/a> has minimized its environmental impact and reduced its CO2 emissions by 30% in logistics by carrying out a process of optimizing logistics processes, such as direct supply from the supplier to the store and avoiding going through logistics platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eroski<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the incorporation of new vehicles (gas vehicles, mega trucks, fleet renewal...). Eroski<\/a> has managed in just four years (one less than the Lean & Green plan awards stars) to reduce its CO2 emissions by 25%. It has also focused on route optimization, thanks to an intelligent fleet program, alternative fuels and ultra-light semi-trailers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Port de Barcelona<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Port de Barcelona<\/a> was the first port in the world to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% in five years. To achieve this reduction, the Port has renewed its own fleet with 100% electric vehicles, public lighting has been converted to LED technology and Port de Barcelona has also switched to 100% renewable energy sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Logifruit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Logifruit<\/a>, <\/strong>a logistics service provider specialized in the sanitization, management and rental of reusable packaging, has achieved a 20% reduction in its carbon footprint thanks to its logistics activity based on the circular economy. The <\/em>circular economy<\/em><\/a> is a model of production and consumption that involves sharing, renting, reusing, repairing, renewing and recycling existing materials and products as often as possible to create added value (europarl.europa.eu).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saica<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to a plan based on improving transportation planning, reducing the average distance, using more efficient vehicles and opting for more sustainable means of transportation, Saica<\/a>, a leading manufacturer of recycled paper for corrugated board, has reduced CO2 emissions in its supply chains by 20%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alimerka<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alimerka<\/a>, the Spanish distribution company, has reduced its CO2 emissions by 20% thanks to the conversion of its fleet of trucks powered by Liquefied Natural Gas. The supermarket chain also has a large number of electric vans. In addition, Alimerka will reduce CO2 emissions by 1,000 tons per year thanks to the installation of 7,500 photovoltaic panels in its logistics center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These companies, along with others, have achieved the first or second Lean & Green<\/a>, a European initiative, coordinated in Spain by AECOC, in which member companies undertake to draw up an action plan to reduce polluting emissions in their logistics activities.
